I am very proud to say that our last session of classes offered at Northgate UMC in Irving was a huge success. We had 9 people take the New Basic taught by Cathy Bell and Patti Martin. We did have two people take this class as a repeat to see what the changes offered and were very impressed and complementary of the changes. If it has been a long time since you have taken the Basic class, you might want to take an opportunity to retake it and see for yourself the differences.
We also offered Cultivate Christian Community lead by John Bodnar and Dan Roark. We had 8 in this class. We originally had 10 signed up for this class, but sadly two person’s had to drop out due to a death in the family.
The Teach Adults class taught by Sherry Nash had 7 persons complete this course. One person also received their “Apple” to be an accredited teacher in the Lay Speaker program.
We had several students from outside the DDD, and it is exciting to see that we are taking advantage of opportunities not only in our district but in all districts. Your officers will attempt to keep all of you informed on what and where and when classes are offered in all districts so that if you have some strong interest in a subject or if the time schedule fits with your schedule, these opportunities can be taken advantage of.
Your training team also is busy at work for the next session of classes to be offered in the spring of 2010. We are not only discussing what to offer, but timing and location. So if you have a special interest in a class, or maybe suggestions on when and where to offer these sessions, please contact me with your feed back. After all it is important to know your feelings and we will take under advisement these suggestions at our planning sessions.
Also, if you are interested in leading or co leading a particular class, let me know and we will utilize this.
See all of you at the Quarterly in November and look for more details to come for future trainings sessions.
